Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a chronic condition affecting millions worldwide. It is characterized by a normal ejection fraction, which is the percentage of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each heartbeat. However, patients with HFpEF have difficulty filling their hearts with blood, which can lead to shortness of breath, fatigue, and other symptoms.Sacubitril-valsartan is a combination drug that has been shown to be effective in reducing the risk of death and hospitalization in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). However, it did not show to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death in patients with HFpEF.Our study is trying to use echocardiogram data to identify echocardiogram parameters that can predict which patients with HFpEF are most likely to benefit from Sacubitril-valsartan. We will be using data from the PARAGON-HF trial to do this. This is an important study because it could help cardiologists better identify patients who are most likely to benefit from Sacubitril-valsartan. This could lead to improved health outcomes for patients with HFpEF.
